This year’s Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival looks to be even more promising than last year- if this is indeed possible! With a line-up ranging from oyster shucking to cycle races, one couldn’t find a more diverse festival; whether a single woman, or family man this Festival is sure to entertain!

The Knysna Speed Festival is an annual events and takes place in various locations around Knysna. This year the event will be held from the 12 to the 20 May 2012. The event first came into fruition in 2009 and since then has acclaimed itself as a premier event on the South African motorsport scene.

The third annual Knysna Literary Festival, taking place from the 27th to the 29th April 2012, aims to reach out to Knysna's residents and visitors to promote literacy and education as well as the best South African authors.

Situated just 5 minutes from Bamboo's Knysna Accommodation is the Pezula Championship Golf Course in the beautiful town of Knysna in the Western Cape. The 18-hole Golf course- which was designed by David Dale and Ronald Fream of GolfPlan USA- was awarded the “Best New Golf Course in South Africa” just after opening in 2001.

Everyone around Knysna knows that Mitchells Brewery has delivered fine quality beer for about 20 years. Turns out that Lex Mitchell (the master-mind behind Mitchell’s Beer), and his barrel of beer came into being at the start of 1983 – a whopping 29 years ago. Equipped with a black BMW R90S, and a business-like mind, he began fruitfully, to encourage sales for his now-famous beer recipe (and smiles) around Knysna’s suburbs.

We (residents of the spectacular Garden Route) all know that along the N2 are numerous distractions that can lead one off the beaten track and prolong a journey from Plettenburg Bay to Knysna or Knysna to Sedgefield to nearly double the time. These 'distractions' come in the form of National Parks, hiking and biking routes, coffee and curio shops, nurseries, sanctuaries, out-door markets and the like. But how often do any of us pay good attention?

On entering Birds of Eden, one is immediately reminded of the familiar religious story of Adam and Eve. Lush forests, giant trees, swooping tropical birds, wooden walk-ways that seem to have no end, mystical ruins , streams and waterfalls, Birds of Eden is a treat for the senses.

The cookery of South Africa takes recipes from many of the cultures that have previously lived in South Africa. It’s not called the Rainbow Nation for nothing! So, in a sense the foods of South Africa are simply a collaboration of foods from different countries. Some of our recipes have fine, delicate tastes -which have been inspired by Westerners- some foods are extremely spicy and have their origins in the East.

It’s almost that time of year again and running enthusiasts are preparing for one of the most sought-after races of the year. This year, The Pick n’ Pay Cape Times Knysna Forest Marathon takes place on the 14th July.
