As spring struggles to shake off the last of the winter chill, a lucky young couple eagerly anticipate another fabulous way in which to celebrate their love for each other………Alan and Yolandi are the proud winners of a stunning Garden Route break courtesy of Bamboo, the Guest House Knysna Accommodation, Stormsriver Adventures, Knysna Charters, Tony Cook Adventures and Cornuti Knysna! This fantastic Garden Route Honeymoon Giveaway was facilitated by SA Weddings, South Africa’s premier online wedding guide. The happy couple walked off with this amazing prize after their Engagement Story received 435 votes, more than any of the over 80 other entries!
Alan and Yolandi will be heading for Knysna on November 24 to begin their quest for a suitable wedding venue. Their Garden Route stay includes a wonderful mix of accommodation, activities and dining.
First up is a 3 night stay at Bamboo, the Guest House in Hunters Home. Renowned for its laid back atmosphere, friendly ambience and superb hospitality, Bamboo would be described by most visitors as quirky, unique and homely. Set in lush, forested gardens, the guest house is the perfect base for exploring the many attractions the Garden Route has to offer. “Bamboo is more than a guest house, it’s a unique life experience.”
Tony Cook Adventures has kindly sponsored a hike or canoe trip for the lucky couple in the Goukamma Nature Reserve. The half day hike takes in a range of vegetation types including dune forest and fynbos as well as milkwood forests, and includes a beach walk too. Hikers cross the Goukamma River and, from the dune tops, get amazing views of the river mouth, the surrounding forests and the Outeniqua mountains. Alternatively the winners may opt for a 6km canoe trip along the Goukamma River.
An exhilarating forest Canopy Tour has been sponsored by Stormsriver Adventures in the Tsitsikamma forest. This spectacular 2-3 hour eco experience in the forest canopy entails sliding along steel cables between platforms constructed high up in some of the taller trees, particularly yellowwoods. The Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour circuit was constructed by an adventurous engineer who had set up a similar system for biologists in the Costa Rican rainforests. Besides getting a bird’s eye view of the forest’s ecology, the possibility of good sightings of forest bird species such as the Knysna Loerie and elusive Narina Trogon are an added bonus of the tour.
Also included in the prize is a romantic 2 hour sunset cruise on Knysna Lagoon courtesy of Knysna Charters. This leisurely cruise affords panoramic views of Knysna and The Heads and our prizewinners will have the opportunity of tasting both cultivated and wild oysters whilst on board. Should the weather be favourable the lagoon sunsets can be breathtaking.
Alan and Yolandi will enjoy a memorable meal at Cornuti Knysna, situated on the rocks at the foot of the iconic Knysna East Head. Renowned for the quality of its fare, its location and its cocktails, Cornuti offers an extensive menu with an Italian bias. When in stock diners should sample some of the finest oysters obtainable in Knysna. To complement their menu a wide selection of both local and Italian wines are available.
“We LOVE Knysna and this just makes it seem like it is meant to be. Thank you very very much!” says Yolandi. One thing is for sure, all parties involved in putting together this stunning prize will go out of their way to ensure that Alan and Yolandi have a whale of a time on their Garden Route Getaway.
